About Mantis Place
Hi, my name is Rebecca Salutric, I am the new owner of Mantis Place. com. I became interested in Praying Mantis a long time ago. I started by collecting Oothecas and hatching the nymphs inside and then waiting until they were able to take care of their selves I placed them outside to continue their lives. I found the nymphs to be very interesting and of course cute. I enjoyed letting them crawl around on my hands and always got a laugh from the way they ate, moved and drank when sprayed with water.
I became acquainted with Nick Barta, previous owner of Mantis Place through the forum I chat on and share my ideas with the fine people there at www.mantidforum.net. What a wealth of knowledge one can find on these forums. Another great forum is www.insectchat.com. They help with more than mantis on these sites.
I am known on the forums as hibiscusmile. I chose the name because the first time I saw a hibiscus flower it made me smile and that is what the mantis does for me, they make me smile and tug at my heart.
Nick felt and I do too, that there was a need to be able to consolidate some of the various supplies that are vital to have to raise these little predators, and he began to find ways to gather those supplies and mantids into one website, Mantis Place. I intend to continue in this endeavor and make this a great place to shop, where one will want to come back to.
We are always looking for ways to improve, so please tell us what other items you would like to see available, and what I can do to better serve you. I will also be offering new supplies and species each week when they become available. So stop back often.
By purchasing at Mantis Place you can consolidate your shipping into one order, which in my experience is one of the most frustrating costs involved in husbandry of animals and insects. Mantis Place is focused on mantis, but invertebrate, reptile, fish and bird keepers of all persuasions will find supplies here that they need - spread the word!
