A small mantis, not quite reaching 2", but very robust! The females have a very pretty lacy underwing. They are called commonly the #9 mantis, due to the design on their wings. The male is almost the same size as the female, only 1/4" smaller. They in my opinion do not have a big appetite. The female lays quite a long ootheca, about 2 times her length. This species is kept as a pet only and can not be released in the U. S. A good container for this species is the Desktop Aquarium.
